Pomposa
POMPOSA is produced exclusively in Italy, in the Po river valley.
It is the most well-known variety of alfalfa in Europe, thanks to its exceptional adaptability to different climates.
Its dormancy of 6-7 provides excellent tolerance to cold, with a quick spring regrowth. Its stems are very fine and, under optimal conditions, its height can exceed one meter. Thanks to these physiological characteristics POMPOSA shows its strong resistance to lodging.
In variety trials it is placed among the best ones for production quantities. POMPOSA is a very persistent variety and it is suited for a frequent cut management. POMPOSA is recommended for the production of hay and dehydrated alfalfa.
